While it might not fix your broken lamp, Gorilla Glue #4 is a potent hybrid worth picking up from Buddies, especially if you’re into crystals. Although the strain heralds from a Chemsis, Chocolate Diesel and Sour Dubb background, there’s a reason it got named after the popular adhesive: stickiness from mega trichome-cover had this morsel nearly dripping. What huge bracts, bulbous calyxes, and dark, pinot noir hairs--all genuinely sugary-coated as if dusted at a bakery--so scrumptious was our sample that a crowd quickly gathered to watch the grind.

Thankfully, sweetness paired strangely well with the chem-stench of glue, which permeated the bud, but not in a bad way. The smell filled the room and carried undertones of roasted caramel, if even a slight Exodus Cheese, peppery but pungent. The smoke was clean and indicative of a full flush, but thick enough to blow rings.

Oh, how she made introductions. Not…

Never have we been disappointed by La Bodega’s specialty strains or friendly service, and their Purple Lemon Skunk has raised the bar for top-shelf product. This family-owned business puts a lot of pride and care into their plants, and the attention to detail is unmistakable. Boasting gigantic sugary buds, the P.L. Skunk is one of the most superb visual examples of growing-done-right.

The nug’s brilliant dark green hues and lime undertones were almost overshadowed by  pockets of imperial violet foliage decorating the dazzling morsels. Her impressive looks were heightened by wiry orange hairs cross-weaving a thick coat of trichomes. Even before breaking apart, the distinct smells of grape juice and lemons announced their holy matrimony. And with the grind brought out the elusive and creamy Skunk.

The first hit was easy on the lungs and but riveting for the mind. The world turned 180 degrees in a slow motion, in…

Chunky D is not just a diesel; it is a hybrid of polar extremes, the pure indica Deep Chunk and the invigorating sativa Sour Diesel. Both have distinctive hallmarks each to their own, exciting to witness right off the bat from our sample from Buddies Wellness. Dark, she wore splotches of indigo amidst mysterious green clusters of leaves, and full reddish beard. The bud was sweet and sugary, with the botanical tart of the Deep Chunk pine, musky spice and all. Her palate was woody, even like caramel chocolate.

From the first go, our heads skyrocketed into a spacy fog, a combination heavy weight, juxtaposed with the Sour D jolt of lightning at the same time. It was refreshingly unexpected. The first few minutes took an eternity to return to what felt like a functional normalcy, but not without a certain calm. We slowly returned to a fantastical mental plane…

CannLabs Test Results: 26.52% THC

To conjure the power of the “DeathStar” takes both brilliance, functionality, and a little bit of a dark-side. While we aren’t here to debate the Tarkin Doctrine or Galactic Standard Calendar, the comparison to a weapon of immense power is overdue as this strain delivers both sensational strong indica effects and very high THC. That’s thanks to a Sensi Star heritage, crossed with the dominating cerebral versatility of Sour Diesel.
Our specimen from Buddies Wellness was sugar-dusted as always with near-perfect cure/dry and pleasant stickiness. A pinch and grind revealed strong Pinesol aroma, like that of an early 1980’s wood paneling. Taste followed suite, with layers of tart lemon, earthy and even metallic overtones, and, not surprisingly, diesel. The longer it burned, a California plum emerged on the palate, sweet like a flower’s nectar.
Interestingly enough, the high was not immediately staggering. Favoring…

Sour Maui conjures the image of sweet treats on sandy beaches, a sunny refuge from winter’s frost. The sativa-dominant hybrid combines the creative energy of Maui Waui with the relaxing pain-relief of Sour Diesel for a potent mixed cocktail of effects.

Our selection from La Bodega certainly delivered that tropical punch. The bright nugs were aromatic like a fruit stand, and sprinkled with a peach fuzz of hairs and generous dusting of trichomes. When ground, the pungent scent of sweet citrus filled the room, erupting like fresh-squeezed grapefruit.

With the first exhale, the power of Sour D hit behind the eyes. Within minutes, the numbing tides flowed throughout the extremities, planting most of us on the couch. Critics felt a brief loss of sensations--even light-headed--but it quickly passed as soon as we became mobile.

Within an hour, the energizing effects of the Maui Waui took hold. No longer could we…

Pre-98 Bubba Kush is like a pair of authentic Converse All-Star sneakers--the originals. Though popular during simpler times, the real thing is rare to come by these days, and worth picking up when you run into it. Our sample from Buddies came in bright green and tie-dyed purple, with a blanket of dark golden hairs, and amber crystal frost. Classic Kush aromas permeated the bag deliciously and exploded during the grind. Critics noted a wide range of additional impressions, including lime, sweet pine, orange cream soda and “earthy.” Smoking revealed a dark and resinous taste and crisp grape innuendo with bitter finish.

First hits were strongly body, but not intense. Although psychedelic and visual aspects made veritable appearances, the creeping head largely enhanced focus, but wounded accuracy fatally. Organization lagged, as heaviness and numbness hung upon the spine like a dose of Valerian. Short term memory failed, but fogginess was…

Genuine Original Haze is one of the hardest sativas to find. It often appears served in tandem with other flavors, in this case, a skunkified version of the already-skunked Super Silver: the bright and blinding Super Lemon Haze. Buddies Wellness carries a solid version of the strain, matured to striking solidarity, and consistent potency.

Like much of Buddies selection, SLH was crystal covered and well-cured, spongy and meaty. Its entangled mane of golden hairs chaotically wrapped the near-leafless bud. Her most memorable trait, though, was the sharp lemon-skunk aroma, erupting exponentially with grind, and adding apricot hints to taste.

The first hit was powerful but not overpowering. The real onset came after a second and more deliberate puff, when the creeping sensations of cerebral euphoria ensued at high speed. The eyes stung after 10 minutes and our knees were shaking. It was a time warp strain…
