Established in 1994 Our original store, on Atkinson Drive (across from the Convention Center) was started by James Holeman, using the name of the shop owned by the Richeson family (originally located in Ala Moana Center, until 1984). Tobaccos of Hawaii changed hands in 2007, when James moved to Arizona. The original store has closed, pending demolition of the block. Our main store on Beretania, nearly a mile and a half away, opened on September 1, 2016. It includes the original Koa and White Birch humidors created by James Ferla, and an expanded Cigar Lounge. Our Big Island store, located next to HPM in Kamuela (Waimea), opened in March of 2012. We sell a wider variety of accessories there than in Honolulu.
