Gary Clark Jr. comes out swinging on JPEG Raw, his first album since 2019's This Land. Kicking off with three of Raw's strongest tracks, "Maktub," the title cut, and "Don't Start" run the gamut of the rock/R&B/soul/blues blend that Clark has developed into a sound distinctly his. The subsequent nine songs further exhibit his bona fides and include appearances from Stevie Wonder and George Clinton. All told, it serves as an excellent follow-up to This Land, and while nothing bites quite as incisively as that title track, JPEG RAW is a reminder of Clark's immense talent beyond his premier guitar chops.
