It's mid-July and the only place to file the self-titled release from Twin Shadow is under "jams, summer." The Dominican-American born George Clark Jr. deftly hits that seasonal sweet spot on his fifth studio effort. 

Twin Shadow is firmly rooted in pop and undeniably catchy. An overarching sheen coupled with segments that are understandably a little too bubblegum may turn some ears off. When two different song titles include the word "sugar," we shouldn't be surprised. At 31 minutes, the ten tracks breeze by, just like these months it's perfectly suited for.
