ARCtic Cookies from Kind Love
If “Arctic Cookies” conjures the image of Lemon Oreos covered in a violet frost, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised by Kind Love’s take on the strain. Combining the citrus bubblegum of Alien Rock Candy with the spicy mélange of Cookies and Cream, this milkshake of a puff delivers a philosophic mellow to soothe the soul. We were excited to receive a sample from Kind Love, who couldn’t explain it better: “It's a signature strain of ours, we bred it, we know it, we love it. It never disappoints.”
Terrifically dense and a gorgeous iridescent violet, the buds were almost completely hidden by a ridiculous coat of trichomes and spindly beard of copper-toned hair. A pastry-like vanilla preceded an otherwise candied, even strawberry-orange Jolly Rancher aroma that actually grew in complexity on the palate. The exhale left a tart blueberry on the lips, and flavor of caramelized cream.
That stellar resinous cover certainly gave us a reason to “take a moment” after the first hit. It was abrupt yet satisfying, as if Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" cinematically cued in the background. Square between the eyes, around again, we were stupefied for a good ten minutes as if turned into highly-alert sponges. Light was more radiant, sounds more “alive,” especially outdoors. “I can’t take a third puff,” one critic noted, “any more and I won’t be able to walk.”
Decisions were difficult. We had to stop and think through everything, consider all the options, the mind going on one million different tangents. Some managed to be “half-productive,” but “only with an insidious amount of coffee and sugar.” Meanwhile, the rest gave into the cosmos and found stuff to do while bug-eyed and lounging. Critics most enjoyed vegging out with video games, gardening, and quenching a mild case of the munchies with comfort food and lemonade.
Those who sampled during the night were inspired by the hours of tranquilizing sensations, to get right into bed -- but those who partook by day felt a long-lasting buzz that rippled well into the evening, clenching the eyes and twisting our perception deliciously (just a little). “This hit all the marks, square-on,” one critic raved. In the end we were enlightened, giddy, and ready for more--blame it on the sweet tooth.
