Pre-98 Bubba Kush is like a pair of authentic Converse All-Star sneakers--the originals. Though popular during simpler times, the real thing is rare to come by these days, and worth picking up when you run into it. Our sample from Buddies came in bright green and tie-dyed purple, with a blanket of dark golden hairs, and amber crystal frost. Classic Kush aromas permeated the bag deliciously and exploded during the grind. Critics noted a wide range of additional impressions, including lime, sweet pine, orange cream soda and “earthy.” Smoking revealed a dark and resinous taste and crisp grape innuendo with bitter finish.
First hits were strongly body, but not intense. Although psychedelic and visual aspects made veritable appearances, the creeping head largely enhanced focus, but wounded accuracy fatally. Organization lagged, as heaviness and numbness hung upon the spine like a dose of Valerian. Short term memory failed, but fogginess was light.
Two critics reported the experiences of outright “lethargy” and “apathy.” But that changed for everyone as we caved for completely ludicrous munchies and inhaled ice cream and beer (expect to be a sucker for sweets in general). The body was in a lull for about an hour but came out without exhaustion. All-day smoking would result in burn out; critics agreed that the strain was best for a late-afternoon chill-out high. Also be prepared for light sensitivity and watery eyes - no simple hiding this high from loved ones or co-workers.
Pair with a Leinenkugels Orange Shandy if you can, and bring this old friend to picnics with the family. The bud might be old-school, but the high never gets old.
