We have set the dial to the year 1883 in Cambridge Massachusetts. The store is located on Mass Ave. in Harvard Square right across the street from Harvard University. Leavitt & Pierce is such a cool, different, unique, unusual, one of a kind, quirky shop. Paul J. Macdonald is the Owner & he has curated an establishment that is part store & part museum. Not only has the store been here for 139 years but it's in the exact same spot. It's never moved! When you buy something in here you feel like you've definitely upped your game. In 2019 Leavitt & Peirce was named by Forbes as the #8 place on their list of the top 10 independent retail experiences in the whole USA. You don't just shop in here you get engulfed in a whole retail experience while shopping. You can never get this kind of feeling with online shopping. Now some Non Smokers & Women might be a little intimidated about coming in here by reading the signs outside. They might think this is a Gentleman's Smoking Shop. It's that but a whole lot more. Really there is something in here for everyone. The interior of the shop boasts a black & white checkerboard floor, all wood shelving & cabinets, antiques, tin ceilings, old pictures & vintage lighting. The History of that Golden era is reflected on the walls. It's really like stepping Back in Time. You've got to scope out every inch of this place or you might miss out on Something really Cool! The store can be divided into 4 main categories: 1) Tobacco & Cigars, They have a good selection of cigars, pipes tobacco & accoutrements. 2) Games & Toys. There carry both American Classic & British Board Games. Some of the popular items in here include Chess Backgammon, Cribbage, Dominos, Cards, Slinky, Tiddlywinks, Pick Up Sticks, Monopoly, Rubric's Cube & many others. 3) The Shaving World. They feature items that your grandfather would use Shaving Back in the Day. They have Shaving Soaps, Mugs & Shave Brushes. They will definitely make your shaving routine a much more pleasurable experience. 4) Gifts & Soaps. They have very Unique Gifts & Soaps if you're looking for something to buy for a present that someone will really remember. They carry Items like Pewter Flasks that leave no tin residue taste like stainless steel does. They also carry Soaps from some small companies that you may not have seen or heard of before. Leavitt & Pierce combines products from yesteryear that have been around for more than a hundred years with some of todays items as well. They also have an online store.
