I decided to give this place a shot because it's closer to my house than my usual cigar spots. As I'm walking in I could see a nice looking outdoor area that is likely the place to be outside of summer however, I went on a day when it was 110 degrees so the indoor area was the the clear option for me. When I stepped inside the very first thing I noticed was how smokey the place was. The indoor area is in clear need of better smoke filtration/ventilation. The humidor has a small/picked over selection in comparison to other lounges/bars in the area. (On a side note, I was surprised to see what would normally be big selling brands at places a customer's eyes rarely go like the bottom of top shelves). The chairs were VERY comfortable. They were my favorite part of this experience. The bartender (if you can even call her a bartender) was on her cell phone when I went to pay for my cigar/buy a drink. I was standing directly in front of her and legitimately had to say something to her for her to look up from her phone and even then, she took time to finish what she was doing on her phone before serving me. The lounge was in need of a clean up (empty cups, full ash trays, ash on the ground/tables, etc...) yet the entire time I was there the bartender stayed on her phone vaping, rarely looking up. Not once did she walk by to ask if I'd like another drink. Typically I go to a lounge/bar 1-2 times per week and I'm usually good for 3-4 cigars and 2-3 beverages. At The Yard, I left after 1 cigar and 1 beer. A small lounge like The Yard naturally cannot carry the widest selection of cigars, they likely only have beer/wine, and won't have the fanciest furniture/decor.... so usually a successful lounge of this size will make up for those items by having outstanding customer service which is what keeps people coming back. Unfortunately, on Sunday 07/17 - The Yard had all of those short comings and the addition of the worst customer service in the area. I'd love to see this place succeed because I love the location and I love the potential of the place but they've got some things to work on.
