Please find included experience at the Total Wine store today 09/10/2022 at around 1:30PM central time (Located in: Central Park Commons Address: 1440 Central Park Commons Dr, Eagan, MN 55121): We are moving to a new place and are in need of old boxes to move bottles. I stopped by the Total Wine store hoping to ask for old empty boxes but felt super bad for just asking for the boxes without purchasing anything so I bought a large bottle of Lindemans Framboise raspberry lambic beer. The lady at the register was very nice and helpful; as I paid I asked her if I could take a couple of empty boxes. She told me that I could take as many as I wanted on the particular section of the wall and brought me a card so I could easily move them to the car. As I was choosing the boxes a young man approached me and asked me what I was doing. I explained what I was doing to him and he informed me that he doesn't know who told me that I can take as many as I want; I can only take 3. I took 3 and was leaving the store when he asked me if I paid for the bottle of the beer in my card. I was shocked and said "Are you serious?". At this point I could not find the receipt and showed him the already closed register where the purchase was made. He confirmed that I did not steal the bottle and asked if I wanted the receipt. I told him "no, just please don't accuse me of stealing". His reply was: " but you are just taking boxes, essentially stealing them". At that point I asked to talk to the manager, he informed me that he is the manager and told me to leave the store telling me that I can now only take 1 old box by the way. This was a very upsetting and humiliating experience for me. I now very much question Total Wine as the company choice of the store leadership. I have never been treated this way in my life.
