Customer Service Department Still Smoking Lahaina Re: Formal Complaint Regarding Incident on April 24, 2025 Dear Sir or Madam, This letter is being sent on behalf of my client, ******** to formally address a troubling incident that occurred on April 24, 2025, at your establishment. On that date, my client attempted to make a purchase at Still Smoking. During this time, a misunderstanding arose when a fellow customer, who did not have his identification, was incorrectly associated with my client by your cashier. As a result of this misunderstanding, my client was unjustly denied service and told that they would be prohibited from making any purchases for the following 24 hours. While my client acknowledges that they expressed their frustration by kicking the wall upon exiting the store, they accept responsibility for that action. However, the situation escalated when an employee, who was not present during the incident, made defamatory statements about my client on social media. This employee went as far as to obtain personal photos of my client, along with images of their workplace, and shared them without consent, slandering both my client and their place of employment. Additionally, the employee displayed malicious intent by posting my client’s name in the hallways of your establishment the very next day. This sustained harassment has deeply affected my client’s emotional well-being, to the extent that they made an attempt on their own life later that night. These actions have caused significant harm not only to my client’s reputation but also to their mental health. My client is unclear if this employee has the authority to enact a ban; however, the implications of being barred from your establishment are severe. This situation inhibits my client’s ability to rectify any misunderstandings and address the damages caused by the defamation. Unless a satisfactory resolution can be reached swiftly to address this serious conduct and its consequences, my client will have no choice but to pursue legal action for defamation and seek appropriate remedies. We trust that Still Smoking values its customers and will take the necessary steps to resolve this matter in a manner that is fair and just. We request a prompt response regarding this situation.
