I just read a review that was that person's - quite offended - opinion. And they are, of course, entitled to their opinion. But if you look at the things this person complained about - from the eyes of a business owner AND a KNOWLEDGEABLE customer - you will be able to see that the very things she COMPLAINED about are part of the reason so many of us have given rave/5 star reviews! This store isn't filthy. It's old, and not decorated all bright and shiny. Yes, it's NOT in SOHO - it's in a more "lived in" area of town - in a working-class neighborhood. (Located between the Tesla Dealership and the Cadillac and Jaguar Dealerships - but she judged that to be a "sketchy" area.) Yes, they have boxes and boxes FILLED WITH DIFFERENT BRANDS AND FLAVORS OF E-LIQUID, EXACTLY as the pictures posted here illustrate, as well as their warehouse next door, and all the showcases FILLED and STACKED with merchandise. That location, in an OLDER building, that HASN'T been decorated by some artsy-fartsy decorator house from Ybor - those "conditions" that she COMPLAINED OF - are part of the reason Joe is able to give the BEST PRICES anyone can find - ANYWHERE! I've seen many people drive 2 hours just to shop at Vapor Rising. She speaks of the worker standing back waiting on his boss - while Joe is QUICK to direct you to whichever staff member has expertise (IF he DOESN'T), they will stand back and wait for boss because they know he might have something much better in mind for the customer, or he might be considering dropping the price on something for a customer - or just giving them something. And they don't have authority to arbitrarily do that. Joe KNOWS his customers! He is a FAIR businessman, and he does things in a way that many have never experienced - MOST people quit doing business that way back when I was a teenager. Now, if you read that diatribe that rates only one star, you will see that she had already passed judgement BEFORE she went in - as she plainly says it was "against my better judgement". She had already declared it "sketchy". I know for a fact that Joe has had it posted on the door since covid became a fact of life that you MUST HAVE A MASK ON to enter the building, and not one time have I seen him, one of his workers, or any of his customers without masks. I also know that back at the beginning of this - around the time that review was posted - he posted a TWO PERSON/CUSTOMER limit - and they have stuck to that. She has given a list of requirements that Joe/Vapor Rising must meet for her to consider giving them a chance. I have vaped since 2013. I grew past vape pens in the first 6 months. I have purchased my products in the Baltimore/DC area where I was living when I first started, and I've bought products in many areas/states as I traveled. She said she will continue to order her products online. I wonder what kind of once-over she gave THAT business before she decided they met her qualifications. Would she be surprised to find conditions there to be ACTUALLY dirty, and considerably more cramped than Joe's store? Things can be wrapped up in gorgeous packaging and tied with a fancy bow, but if the opened box is empty - or very nearly so - that, to ME, is a TOTAL LACK of SUBSTANCE. It would seem that it would be TOTALLY SATISFACTORY to the one who judged everything by appearance, while rejecting the substance that would be found inside! Her "review" of a business that SHE HAS NEVER BEEN A CUSTOMER OF - seems to be a judgemental smear by someone who doesn't "Care Un" bit about anything other than letting everyone know how beneath her the rest of the world is. It's unfair to a business that SHE NEVER PATRONISED - and therefore her judgement (based on NOTHING) is worth about as much as those One-Star reviews you hear about being given by this type of person on Reddit. She has done a disservice to the business, she has done a disservice to anyone who reads her review and decides NOT to check it out - and she has done herself an even greater disservice - because she walked in the door already not liking it - so she never gave them a chance! But, like my Dad always said, "People with more money than brains will ALWAYS spend WAY TOO MUCH for everything they buy! And usually BRAG about it! While they look foolish and rude to everyone else, they are validating themselves TO themselves EVERY TIME they do that. In their eyes it makes them better than everyone else that they don't have to care about wasting money!" Karen's only THINK they're special - and THEY are the ONLY ones who think that.
